WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF THE HAMILTON EAST PUBLIC LIBRARY?

The Friends of the Hamilton East Public Library is a local grassroots organization that supports the library through fundraising and advocacy. The Friends promotes increased knowledge and understanding of the library's resources and fosters public support and cooperation for the necessary development of library services in our community. The Friends seek to maintain and enhance the essential library services offered to the citizens of Noblesville and Fishers. The board is actively involved in running the Book Shops at the Fishers and Noblesville Libraries, planning fundraising activities, and sponsoring the annual "Mystery" production in the Fall.

 

BOOK SHOP HOURS

 

Where: The Friends of the Library book shops are located right inside the main entrances of both building. There is also an on going book sale in Fishers.
When: Noblesville Monday - 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  Tuesday - 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  Wednesday- 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
  Thursday - 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  Friday - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  Saturday - 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  Sunday - 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  Fishers Saturdays - 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
(plus, ongoing sale available every day in Fishers!)

Paper applications are available at both the Fishers and Noblesville Libraries.

When you become a member of the Friends of the Library you will:

  • receive a 50% discount on all items in the Friends Book Shops on the 1st Saturday of each month.
  • be given the opportunity to vote at the Annual Meeting and specially called meetings.
  • be able to join the many volunteers who help run the Book Shops and assist with other projects.
  • be rewarded with the great feeling that comes from knowing you are helping to spread the joy of reading and the love of culture through your community.

How the Friends Support the Library

The Friends of the Library support the Library by directly donating funds to the library. Here are just a few items the Friends recently purchased for the library:

  • Summer Reading program
  • Adult Fiction Material
  • Projector for Youth Services
  • AWE Early Literacy computers
  • Atomic Clocks for the Library

Funds donated by the Friends to the various departments help them purchase items that fall beyond the normal scope of the library budget and needs that become apparent sometime after budget completion.

 

Special Projects

ANNUAL MYSTERY PROGRAM

Each fall the Friends host an originally written interactive murder mystery at the Noblesville Library. Staff members, volunteers and Friends members serve as the cast of characters and the public is invited in to ask questions, do detective work and solve the mystery.
