The Summer Reading Program is a popular activity offered each year through the Hamilton East Public Library. The program runs for an eight week period in June and July and is open to all ages of readers. Everyone, from babies to adults, has the opportunity to read to collect prizes and words of encouragement.

We have consistently registered over 15,000 youth, young adults and adult participants in the Summer Reading Program to quench their love of reading. At the end of the program, prizes are awarded to participants who complete the requirements for their specific age category. These prizes might include coupons to area restaurants or attractions, canvas book bags, paperback books and more.

Beginning June 1st, readers can register to participate in the Summer Reading Program at either the Noblesville or Fishers Library. Volunteer Opportunities for the Summer Reading Program include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting patrons
  • Explaining the program
  • Registering patrons
  • Handing out prizes
  • Removing items returned from the conveyor belts
  • Checking materials that are returned
  • Preshelving materials
  • Shelving materials
  • Shelf reading materials
