The Girl Who Drank the Moon

screen-shot-2016-12-07-at-4-06-51-pmThe Girl Who Drank the Moon

By: Kelly Barnhill

I absolutely loved The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill. This is an imaginative and compelling story of deceit, friendship, love and magic as old as time itself. A baby from the Protectorate is left as a sacrifice each year to the witch in the forest to keep her from terrorizing the village. But the witch is kind and always saves the babies. One year a baby is accidentally given moonlight instead of starlight by the witch, Xan. This moonlight gives the child extraordinary magic so Xan, a swamp monster named Glerk and a perfectly tiny dragon named Fyrian decide to raise her as their own. What follows is a beautiful story of a life filled with love and protection.

If you love a great fantasy filled with danger, deceit and love, then you will definitely want to put The Girl Who Drank the Moon on your reading list! Suitable for ages 10+.
