What’s Cooking @ HEPL: Ep 08

By: Heidi Herald

Indian(-ish): Recipes and Antics from a Modern American Family by Priya Krishna

Welcome back to What’s Cooking @ HEPL! I am Heidi Herald, a Public Services Librarian at Hamilton East Public Library. I will be reviewing one of the library’s cookbooks each month. This month, I selected Indian(-ish) by Priya Krishna. I really enjoyed the recipes that combine Indian and American cooking. Most of the recipes I tried were quick and easy, but mouth-wateringly delicious!

Malaysian Ramen
The Malaysian ramen was very flavorful and delicious! It had many different layers of flavor that combined perfectly.

Tomato-Cheese Masala Toast
Tomato-Cheese Masala Toast was so simple and so delicious! Just Roma tomatoes, sharp cheddar cheese, and chaat masala seasoning.

The two pictures below show roti pizza. One was made with red onion, sharp cheddar cheese, and homemade cilantro chutney. The other pizza had thinly sliced potatoes, parmesan, and rosemary. This was easy to make with whole wheat tortillas for the crust.

Finally, in the video below I make Aloo (Potato) Parathas.

I hope you will borrow Indian(-ish) by Priya Krishna from our library collections! It is available in print and digitally through Libby. Happy Eating!
