A Horton and a Who and a cat and a hat - much fun to be had, imagine that! Join us on Tuesday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. at both the Fishers and the Noblesville Libraries for our Annual Dr. Seuss program. Experience an evening of family fun featuring special guest readers Durbin Elementary School Principal Linda Ededuwa and Guerin Catholic High School Media Specialist Marcia Murphy as they share their favorite Dr. Seuss stories. Enjoy crafts, snacks and stories by our old friend Dr. Seuss.
Each year students in Indiana vote for their favorite of the Young Hoosier Book Award nominees. Homeschooled children or students who do not vote through their school may cast their votes at the Noblesville or Fishers Library. Pick up a Young Hoosier folder at the Youth Services desk at either library. The folders contain a list of the nominees, a reading log, and ballots. Read the required number of books for your category and return your reading log and ballot to the Youth Services desk by April 13, 2012.
Practice builds reading skills, and dogs are great listeners. That's a winning combination to help new or hesitant readers gain confidence. Readers have more than one opportunity each month to visit reading therapy dogs at the Noblesville Library. We are fortunate to have these reading buddies available, and we give a big thanks to their owners who make this possible!
The American Association for Retired Persons (AARP) will provide free tax assistance for seniors and low-income families and individuals at the Noblesville Library. Assistance will be available Monday - Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in February, and Tuesday - Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in March and April. AARP volunteers are trained, tested, and monitored by the IRS. Electronic filing is available. Assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
For your convenience, all children’s materials at the Fishers Library are now located within the Youth Services Department. Get your youth books, DVDs, videos and more all in one location. Need assistance? Please ask! We will be glad to help!
HEPL is partnering with Prevail to collect unused or retired cell phones to assist victims of domestic violence. Donated cell phones will be refurbished and reprogrammed for emergency calls, or sold to help raise funding for agencies that fight domestic violence.
All cell phones must be deactivated prior to donation. Donations will be accepted through March at both the Fishers Library and the Noblesville Library.
