Hamilton East Public Library is committed to making its website as accessible as possible for everyone.
We strive to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA) and use Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) specifications. We also aim to follow accessibility best practices by using WebAIM’s Principles of Universal Design. Please understand that our efforts to improve online accessibility are ongoing.

At Our Library Buildings
Sensory Inclusion
We’re proud to announce that we’ve partnered with Kulture City to improve our ability to assist and accommodate guests with sensory needs at the Fishers and Noblesville libraries.
Sensory Bags
Sensory bags containing special Kulture City VIP badges, fidget tools, noise canceling headphones and other resources are available for use in the libraries and may be obtained at the service points located in the children’s, teen and Ignite (Fishers only) areas. Sensory bags can be independently borrowed and returned to a marked tub for cleaning.
Weighted Lap Pads
Weighted lap pads are also available upon request at a children’s service point.
Wheel Chairs
An adult size wheel chair is available upon request at each building for use during your visit.
Public Computers
Ease of Access (Microsoft’s accessibility features) have been enabled on all public internet computers in both the Fishers and Noblesville library buildings.
During Programs
Interpreter Services
The Library will make every attempt to arrange to provide an ASL or other language interpreter for programs and events with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Please send requests to programs@hamiltoneastpl.org.
Closed Captioning
Closed captioning can be added to virtual programs by request.
Sensory Friendly Options
Large in-person events at HEPL are planned to include sensory friendly spaces for those who need a break from the action. Please ask a staff member to direct you to a designated quiet place.
Accessibility of Library Materials
Curbside Services
You can retrieve your holds without leaving your vehicle. We offer contact-free curbside holds pickup by appointment. Once you place a hold and receive an email or text notification that your holds are ready for pickup, you will need to access the library’s website to schedule a curbside appointment.
Homebound Delivery
The rich collections of the Hamilton East Public Library are available to you through our free Homebound Delivery service. You can check out library materials for up to 3 weeks and may even renew them if you need a bit more time. Any resident of Delaware, Fall Creek, Noblesville or Wayne Township in Hamilton County who is unable to visit the library due to age, illness, or injury, whether permanent or temporary, is eligible for this service. Library materials are offered in a variety of formats to meet the needs of a broad audience, including:
- Audiobooks (on CD)
- Audiobooks (downloadable)
- Large print books
- eBooks (new arrivals)
- DVDs with closed captioning or subtitles
- DVDs with descriptive audio tracks
Caregiver Resources
